Tikkun Ha-Olam

Ages All

Social Action at the JCCSF is guided by the Jewish principle Tikkun Ha-Olam תיקון עולם or “repair of the world.” Together, we build resiliency, deepen compassion, and understand that each of us has unique gifts to make a difference in the world.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” ― Anne Frank

Through civic engagement, building relationships and identifying urgent needs, we can work together to make our community and our world a better place. We are committed to creating positive change through sharing kindness and pursuing justice. Join us year-round for opportunities to get involved through learning, discussion, donation drives, volunteerism and hands-on projects. Recent partnerships include projects with LavaMae, Jewish Family & Children’s Services, The Butterfly Effect: Migration is Beautiful, Jewish Soldiers Project and more.

Grow through virtual or in-person service with trusted partners while learning and reflecting with peers through training led by national leaders in the field. Apply or nominate a young adult by February 28th at go.werepair.org/ServiceCorpsSpring

SF-Marin Food Bank

Before the pandemic, one in five people was at risk of hunger in San Francisco and Marin. Now, we know the need is even greater.

Come alone or gather coworkers, friends, and family to volunteer at the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank! Shifts are posted on a month-by-month basis on the second or third Thursday.

Learn more about urgent volunteer needs.

Jewish Family and Children Services

High Holiday Food DriveJFCS is collecting shelf stable pantry items like canned tuna, cereal, broth, granola bars, peanut butter, jam and boxes of macaroni and cheese plus household and personal care items like cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste and body soap.

Drop off your donations at the JCCSF – donation barrel is in the lobby.

JFCS volunteers help strengthen individuals and families throughout the Bay Area by extending a human touch and meaningful connections to the greater community.
