Our Seven Core Values

The following quotations highlight the core values of the JCCSF, collectively known as the Sheva Middot, or Seven Core Values. The quotations appear on a 30-foot sculpted wall in the building’s atrium as a visual reminder to JCCSF members, visitors and staff.

Our Community

Urban and inclusive, the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco celebrates our vibrant city and its people. We explore Jewish culture and traditions as a pathway for joyful, meaningful living. We’re a community that welcomes everyone, using the power of gathering together to share, inspire, support and restore. All are welcome.

Expect the extraordinary and come curious every day, in person or online. You could enjoy an appearance by a renowned performer or cultural icon. You may get swept up in a holiday celebration with our own spirited twist. You might even see us pop up around town, welcoming you to an interactive experience inspired by Jewish culture. Our Fitness Center supports your wellness goals with exceptional trainers and daily classes like yoga, Pilates and tai chi. Preschoolers delight in discovering that vital early love of learning at one of our three exceptional schools, and year-round we enrich the lives of youngsters of all ages and whole families.

For more than a century we have evolved with our city, embracing its character and energy. Today, we tap into the rich layers of Jewish culture – its chutzpah, rhythms, resilience, and call for justice – as a resource for everyone. We practice the Jewish approach to making the world better by helping the people in it be better.
