Erica Aren

Senior Director of Roots & Culture

Arts & Ideas, Jewish Life

Erica brings expertise in Jewish education with extensive experience in program direction, management and design. Since 2003, she is proud to have worked for an array of Jewish organizations including 18Doors, American Jewish World Service, the Diller Teen Fellows and BBYO. Each opportunity built her skills and expertise in community building, people management and experience design.

Before joining the JCCSF, Erica helped reopen a small independent school to operate in the early COVID-19 restrictions, learning to navigate the unknown in service of sending children back to school. Prior, she worked as Director for the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards with the Helen Diller Family Foundation at the Jewish Community Federation in San Francisco, where she evolved experiential content, built retreat and mentoring programs, grew the network of alumni, and introduced bias training and rigorous committee ethics.

In her free time, Erica enjoys pursuing creative endeavors including stained glass, knitting and watercolor painting. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and three children where they are active members of The Kitchen and enjoy their backyard garden full of strawberries.
