Film & Festivals

This isn’t just watching a movie—it’s experiencing it. Through partnerships with leading film institutes, our Film & Festivals program brings bold stories, acclaimed festivals, and unforgettable moments to the big screen.

Expect everything from buzzy film festival hits to hidden gems, discussions with filmmakers and special guests who bring the stories even closer. It’s not just a movie screening – it’s a shared experience.

Our Film & Festivals program brings the cinematic experience to life in Kanbar Hall, our newly renovated 438 seat venue designed for exceptional viewing and listening. Featuring Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound, DCP 4K projection, enhanced acoustics, and a high-performance screen, the theater transforms every movie screening into something immersive, dynamic, and unforgettable. In partnership with leading film institutes, we present festivals and curated programs that celebrate storytelling on the big screen — exactly as it’s meant to be experienced.

Jewish Film Institute

In Partnership with the Jewish Film Institute

The JCCSF is honored to partner with the Jewish Film Institute (JFI), the esteemed cultural arts organization behind the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (SFJFF). JFI serves audiences in the Bay Area through SFJFF and year-round public programs and a global community of independent filmmakers through fellowships and grants. Rooted in a shared commitment to vibrant Jewish storytelling and cultural life, this collaboration kicks off with the 46th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival at Kanbar Hall from July 17 – 26, 2026, and extends throughout the year with thoughtfully curated film programming presented in partnership at the JCCSF.

San Francisco International Film Festival

SFFILM is the hub of the Bay Area’s vibrant film culture. Audiences find singular movies from the latest and greatest filmmakers. They’ve hosted the San Francisco International Film Festival for nearly 70 years, making it the longest running film festival in the Americas.

The JCCSF was a proud host of the closing weekend for the 69th San Francisco International Film Festival on May 2 and May 3.
