The Marx Brothers: The Greatest Jewish Comedy Team

Relish the life and times of the multi-talented Marx siblings, sons of immigrants whose humor, although not overtly Jewish, was deeply connected to it.

Of the many awe inspiring and formidable Jewish comedians, the Marx Brothers, Groucho, Harpo, and Chico Marx, and sometimes younger brother/straight man Zeppo, were preeminent at combining their talents to create several unforgettable characters. Each brother added different schtick or personal touches to the effort; Groucho, the mustache; Harpo the Harp, and Chico the Italian accent. 

Richie Unterberger presents an uplifting appreciation of their comic genius through showing and discussing select clips from their classic films, as well as some of their television appearances. 

Rock historian Richie Unterberger is the author of numerous rock history books, including volumes on the Beatles, the Who, the Velvet Underground, Bob Marley, and 1960s folk-rock. He teaches courses on rock and soul music history at several Bay Area colleges. His latest book, San Francisco: Portrait of a City, was published by Taschen in 2022.
