Art Nouveau & Art Deco: The Quest for Beauty

In this special two-hour presentation, we’ll examine, through lecture and images, two very different nontraditional and beloved art movements. Along with discovering each one’s roots, the discussion will illuminate the reasons they ended. There will be a who’s who of each movement’s major players.  

And if you want to see the glory that was Art Nouveau and Art Deco firsthand, Charlie will gladly point out the best world capitals to visit. But closer to home and far less expensive, magnificent examples of both are just a short trek away.  

Charlie Goldberg is a former Emergency Room physician, who in his retirement has been involved in talking about art. He is a docent at both the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and the Museum of the African Diaspora (MOAD). He also presents courses on art and photography at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
