Putting aside moral judgement, let’s examine the artists known as the Futurists who were tired of the old ways of representing art and who worked to challenge the system while creating a new frame of reference.
The group’s innovative style influenced countless artists by attempting to answer questions such as: how do you convey a sense of modernity and increase excitement with images? Is it possible to capture movement in a static form? Get the lowdown from Charlie Goldberg on how the movement evolved and see examples of the way they endeavored to master these challenges.
Charlie Goldberg is a former Emergency Room physician, who in his retirement has been involved in talking about art. He is a docent at both the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and the Museum of the African Diaspora (MOAD). He also presents courses on art and photography at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
