Mahjong – Beginner Sessions

Pull up a chair and join the table. Mahjong at the JCCSF brings together players of all levels for lessons, play, and genuine connection.  

New to the game? Start with our beginner class series, where experienced instructors walk you through everything from tiles to strategy. All sets and cards provided. 

Beginner Mahjong Sessions (Choose one series; both sessions required): $150

In this beginner class series, experienced instructors guide you through the fundamentals – tiles, hands, strategy, and everything in between. By the end, you’ll have the skills and confidence to sit down at any table.

Mahj Social Club SF is a San Francisco/Bay Area community dedicated to bringing people together through American Mah Jongg. Run by Alice Meyers and Kara Yugoff, they offer beginner lessons, coached play, social events, and tournaments designed to make Mahj approachable, welcoming, and fun. Whether you’re new to the game or looking to sharpen your strategy, Mahj Social Club SF creates welcoming spaces where friendships form, confidence grows, and community comes to life.
