This hands-on workshop brings Tu Bishvat – the Jewish New Year for the trees – to life with a fruit tasting ritual inspired by the Kabbalistic practice of a seder, a ceremonial meal infused with mystical meaning. You’ll explore flavors, colors, and symbolism while making your own vibrant print using local tree stumps, ink, and seasonal inspiration from the faintest first signs of spring.
Rooted in Jewish mysticism, Kabbalah invites us to see deeper meaning in everyday experiences, revealing how even the smallest fruit or seed can hold spiritual significance. This interactive experience celebrates nature, creativity, and the cycles of growth that guide both the earth and our own inner lives.
Ages 14 and older.
ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
Bonny Nahmiasis an interdisciplinary artist whose work is deeply rooted in her matrilineal lineage of Sephardic Jewish Brushas (“witches” in Ladino). Her creative practice serves as an expression of the spell they cast upon her – an ongoing dialogue between ancestry, embodiment, and transformation. With experience working across multiple mediums – including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, video, and performance – Nahmias finds joy in weaving these practices together through Jewish communal gatherings that honor creativity, ritual, and magic.
Tara Townsendis the founder and creative force behind Adara Rituals, where she offers unique Jewish decor pieces that illuminate heritage through contemporary design. Drawing on two decades in marketing, fashion, branding, and storytelling, Tara weaves aesthetics with soul, placing human connection at the center of every piece she creates. From glass dreidel terrariums to scented candles and curated gift boxes, she infuses each creation with intention, beauty, and meaning. Her creative practice extends into teaching, writing, and gathering community around Jewish mysticism, seasonal cycles, and embodied spiritual life.
