Troy Markle

Group Exercise Manager

Fitness

If you’ve danced your heart out at Zumbathon, grooved through Groov3™, or joined any Group Fitness class, you’ve already experienced the magic of Troy Markle. His unique flair comes from blending high energy, great music, and a true sense of community.

A San Francisco native and proud 1/2 Latino and 1/2 Hawaiian, Troy has been the driving force behind Group Fitness at the JCCSF for 14 years. He’s the creative mind behind our most dynamic classes and community events bringing loads of experience and passion along the way.

A two-time National Aerobic Champion and World Competitor who repped the USA in the ‘90s, Troy is a born performer. He’s been featured on ESPN, The Pat Sajak Show and was a featured host for a weekly Health & Fitness Tip segment on ABC 7 Good Morning Bay Area and even shared the stage with Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child and Tony Awards & Grammy winner Jennifer Holiday from the original Broadway musical Dream Girls. But what fuels him most? The members. The energy. The determination. Like the woman who started in one of his classes at 57 and is still going strong in her 70s.

“To me as you get older, it’s more than just physical,” says Troy. It’s more about mindfulness. It’s your determination. Whatever it is. If you love it, you’re going to stick with it.”

Troy’s passion for group fitness goes far beyond movement; it’s about connection: “Group fitness is a whole community within a club,” he says. “People come for the teachers, the energy, the music.”

With a background in entertainment and a heart for giving back, Troy often ties his events to meaningful causes, raising major support for organizations like Project Open Hand and City of Hope. He’s actively involved with volunteer animal rescue and is a doggie lover. Troy is friendly, full of ideas and always up for a chat, so make sure to say hi when you see him.

Fun Fact: May 12 is officially Troy Markle Day in San Francisco thanks to former Mayor Willie Brown. You heard that right.
