As the war in Israel and Gaza continues to unfold with news of devastating tragedies, we are called to gather.
Join in community with Rabbi Batshir Torchio for a Havdalah gathering in the welcoming and safe space of the JCCSF. Havdalah is a Saturday evening ritual that separates the Jewish holiday of Shabbat from the work week. This marking of time is a moment for support and connection as we enter the uncertainty of the week ahead.
We will begin with songs, nigunim (wordless melodies), poetry, and the simplicity of breathing together. The evening will culminate with joining together for Havdalah and song to illuminate the darkness.
All faiths and backgrounds are welcome to join. We will refrain from political rhetoric to connect with our hearts and to support one another. This is a held as safe space for all to gather in community. Please do not bring posters, large flags or other symbols of the conflict.
Doors Open at 5:45 pm
6:00 pm: Songs, live music and poetry
7:15 pm: Havdalah with Rabbi Batshir Torchio & Maggid Jhos Singer, followed by live music by Jonathan Bayer
