The JCCSF is experiencing a PG&E power outage. The fitness center & pool are closed and the building will close at 6:00 pm today. The fitness center will reopen at 5:30am for regular business hours.
The holiday of Shavuot marks the moment Torah, a sacred scroll of divine teachings, was received by the Jewish people on Mount Sinai. Today we honor the Shavuot traditions of gathering in community to celebrate learning and discussion as a way to discover together and seek new truths. The customs associated with the holiday include a tikkun leyl Shavuot (Jewish mystical tradition of staying up all night studying Torah), eating dairy products and a public reading of the Biblical Book of Ruth.
