Школа музыки и танца «Тиква»
Classes are taught in Russian.

Saturdays, September 6, 2014 – June 13, 2015

The Final Performance takes place in June.

Tikvah Saturday music and dance classes teach children a variety of creative arts, helping them to develop as individuals through exploration and self-expression. Each week culminates in a Shabbat celebration and each school semester culminates in a performance attended by friends and family.

Music: Children learn melody, pitch and rhythm while building a repertoire of joyful songs. They develop listening techniques and explore different musical styles. Depending on age, students participate in recitals or mini theatrical productions. Children ages 12 to 17 study music appreciation, take voice lessons and practice performing.

Dance: Children receive instruction in movement, elementary ballet, rhythmic structure and dance appreciation. Classes include warm-up and floor movement with an emphasis on technique, creativity, style and self-expression. Children ages 12 to 17 practice ballroom, contemporary, folk and hip-hop.

Arts and Crafts: Children explore their creativity through a variety of projects related to Jewish, American and Russian holidays and themes, learning composition and basic color theory and design. Arts & crafts lessons and projects are part of the Art Shabbat.

Shabbat: Children learn about Jewish tradition and culture through song, stories, blessings and discussion.
