Preteen & Teen Camps (Grades 6 – 8)
Preteen & Teen Camps offer urban and wilderness adventures, day trips, overnight escapades and learning and leadership opportunities. Each of the one-week Adventure Camp sessions features a unique theme, so campers continue to have new experiences throughout the summer. Leadership Opportunities empower campers to serve as role models, and teach important skills that prepare them to meet challenges in school and beyond.

Campers participate in team building and trip planning in San Francisco, then head to Point Reyes National Seashore for two nights of camping, hiking, exploring and fun.

Campers give back to the community, learning about poverty and local vulnerable populations while engaging in daily volunteering. Each day campers serve lunch at Glide Memorial Church.

Campers work in teams to create their very own food truck concept, visiting local hot spots to find inspiration. Campers perfect their recipes and design their brand in time for an end-of-session "street festival."

Junior Lifeguards • M $425 | P $475

Junior lifeguards get a jump start on lifeguard training with daily workouts, certification testing, intramural lifeguard competitions and more. CPR, First Aid and Basic Water Rescue certifications are provided upon completion. Campers become competent with basic camera settings and image composition, taking photos at the JCCSF and at other unique locations around the city. After uploading their photos in the computer lab, they learn the tools and tricks to manipulate their images and create a final product. Campers supply their own digital cameras, memory sticks and uploading cards.

Campers find their voice through poetry, journalistic observation and photography – all in an age-appropriate environment. Through digital research and local field trips, campers brainstorm blog topics, bringing their ideas to the screen. They learn photo editing techniques and how to set up a blog, then design, write and edit a blog focused on any topic they wish to explore.
