Preteen & Teen Camps (Grades 6 – 8)
Preteen & Teen Camps offer urban and wilderness adventures, day trips, overnight escapades and learning and leadership opportunities. Each of the one-week Adventure Camp sessions features a unique theme, so campers continue to have new experiences throughout the summer. Leadership Opportunities empower campers to serve as role models, and teach important skills that prepare them to meet challenges in school and beyond.

Campers participate in team building and trip planning in San Francisco, then head to Big Basin Redwoods State Park for two nights of camping, hiking, exploring and fun.

Campers learn to make dishes from start to finish, with recipes and ingredients that require no assistance. Campers calculate budgets and portions specific to their family and prepare their own take-home recipe books and shopping lists.

Campers give back to the community, learning about poverty and local vulnerable populations while engaging in daily volunteering. Each day campers serve lunch at Glide Memorial Church.

Junior Lifeguards • M $425 | P $475

Junior lifeguards get a jump start on lifeguard training with daily workouts, certification testing, marine education, intramural lifeguard competitions and more. Campers get creative with technology and express themselves through different mediums, learning digital photography, web design and blogging.
Digital Photography • M $425 | P $475

Campers become competent with basic camera settings and image composition, taking photos at the JCCSF and at other unique locations around the city. After uploading their photos in the computer lab, they learn the tools and tricks to manipulate their images and create a final product. Campers supply their own digital cameras, memory sticks and uploading cards.

Campers learn cutting-edge coding skills to create advanced multimedia and interactive websites to host their very own blog. They also find their voice through poetry, journalistic observation and photography – all in an age-appropriate environment.
