Campers explore the lives of make-believe characters, design costumes, create stories and learn skills to be their own superheroes.

Campers investigate life above and below the sea as they become explorers, build boats, create maps and travel to far-off lands using storytelling and their imaginations.

NEW! WILD WEST • July 6 – 10
Campers travel back in time to experience California life on the frontier, discovering what it takes to be a pioneer, making handmade crafts and mining for gold.

OUTTA THIS WORLD! • July 13 – 17
Campers travel to the depths of the universe, exploring outer space through storytelling, costumes, spaceship-building and more. 

SAFARI • July 20 – 24
Campers trek deep into the jungle, investigating plants, animals and bugs, and discovering the wonders of nature around the world and in our own backyard.

Campers put on their detective hats and thinking caps, solving mysteries and embarking on scavenger hunts throughout the JCCSF.

STORYBOOK ADVENTURES • August 3 – 7
Campers create characters and use storytelling, imagery and role-playing to act out adventures sprung straight from their imaginations.

COSMO KIDS (Grades 1 & 2)

Campers move to rhythmic beats and learn basic dance steps in this energetic and expressive class, set to age-appropriate music.

Campers learn chess strategy and play tournament-style games. Novice and experienced players welcome!

Campers learn teamwork, communication and sports skills, playing soccer and basketball games at the JCCSF and in local parks.

Campers develop skateboarding skills with plenty of skate time at some of America's finest skate parks – right here in the Bay Area! All skill levels welcome. Campers must supply their own skateboard, helmet, wrist guards and knee and elbow pads.

SPECIALTY CAMPS: SPOTLIGHT (Grades 3 – 7)

Campers who have mastered the basics of digital photography take their skills to the next level, making the most of indoor and outdoor light, learning to capture motion and focusing in on close-up shots. Campers supply their own digital cameras, memory sticks and uploading cards.

ROCK CAMP • Grades 4 – 7 • M $850 | P $950

Campers make their rock 'n' roll dreams come true, forming their own bands and rehearsing chart-topping songs, while learning rock 'n' roll history. At session's end, campers rock the JCCSF in an end-of-session show. Rock Camp campers must supply their own instruments, have at least one year of musical training, be able to play five open chords and understand basic music counts.

MOVIE MAKERS • Grades 4 – 7 • M $850 | P $950

Working in production teams, campers create storyboards, write scripts and scout locations. They act, shoot and edit their own masterpieces using digital cameras and movie software.

Campers get hands-on leadership experience, learning how to work with younger kids, teaching and spotting gymnastics, and helping in the art studio, dance studio and pool. Grads get in on planning too – both morning circle activities and the end-of-session show. Acceptance to GADS Grads is dependent on application and interview. SPORTS CAMPS (Grades 1 – 5)

STARTING LINEUP • Grades 1 & 2 • M $425 | P $475
It's the summer sports camp for young athletes who love to move, play and compete! Campers learn basic skills, hone their talents and explore multiple sports. Each week focuses on a different sport in the morning and on basketball and soccer in the afternoon. Every week includes one day for playtime in the pool.

GAME ON: BASKETBALL • Grades 3 – 5 • M $400 | P $450
Campers play ball in the JCCSF gymnasium – home to one of the best basketball facilities for young players in San Francisco – learning basketball skills, strategy and fitness and competing in scrimmages and games. Each week campers take a day off from basketball for a swimming field trip.

Campers kick around on some of the most pristine athletic fields for young players in the Bay Area, learning soccer skills, strategy and fitness and competing in scrimmages and full-field games. Each week campers take a day off from soccer for a swimming field trip.

Junior lifeguards get a jump start on lifeguard training with daily workouts, certification testing, intramural lifeguard competitions and more. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY • M $425 | P $475

Campers become competent with basic camera settings and image composition, taking photos at the JCCSF and at other unique locations around the city. After uploading their photos in the computer lab, they learn the tools and tricks to manipulate their images and create a final product. Campers supply their own digital cameras, memory sticks and uploading cards.

BLOGGING • M $625 | P $675
August 10 – 14
Campers find their voice through poetry, journalistic observation and photography – all in an age-appropriate environment. Through digital research and local field trips, campers brainstorm blog topics, bringing their ideas to the screen. They learn photo editing techniques and how to set up a blog, then design, write and edit a blog focused on any topic they wish to explore.
