Swim School Levels



Infants, 6 – 36 months

Water Babies – Beginning and Advanced Ages 6 – 36 Months, With Parent or Caregiver
Babies and parents become comfortable in and under the water. Children learn to relax, float on their back independently and swim with eyes down for a distance of three to five feet. [Read More]

Water Wigglers
Ages 2 – 3 Years, Child only
Graduates of Water Babies now work independently of parents. Children are taught roll over breathing, "big arms" and kicking on their back. Each child also learns to complete an unassisted turnaround swim. [Read More]

Ages 3 – 5

Frogs
For nervous swimmers or the very beginner.
Frogs focus on submersion and back floats as children learn to feel comfortable and safe in the water. Streamlining (correct body position and form) is introduced. Instructors help the child build trust and confidence. [Read More]

Gobies
For children comfortable in the water.
Gobies learn the basics of freestyle, backstroke and streamlining. The swimmers also begin to explore their newfound skills by swimming underwater.

Tiger Barbs
For children able to swim free and backstroke over short distances.
Tiger Barbs learn freestyle side breathing (preferred side breathing). In this level, students begin to put it all together and make a big splash of progress. [Read More]
Prerequisite, or assessment by instructor: Water Wigglers or Gobies
Class limit: 4

Ages 6 – 12

Puffers
For nervous swimmers or the very beginner
Puffers focus on submersion and back floats as students learn to feel comfortable and safe in the water. Streamlining (correct body position and form) is introduced. Swimmers build confidence and learn to have fun in the pool. [Read More]

Stingrays
For students Comfortable in the water
Stingrays learn the basics of freestyle, backstroke and streamlining. In this class, students discover that water is a fun place to be and develop a sense of confidence. [Read More]

Class limit: 4


Seals
For students able to swim free style and backstroke over short distances.
Seals learn freestyle side breathing (preferred side breathing). In this level, students begin putting together all they've learned as their confidence grows. [Read More]
Prerequisite, or assessment by instructor: Stingrays
Class limit: 4

Dolphins
For students able to swim backstroke and Freestyle.
Having achieved the skills of swimming with side breathing to the preferred side, students now learn freestyle breathing to the non-preferred side, butterfly and breaststroke. [Read More]
Prerequisite, or assessment by instructor: Seals or older graduates of Tiger Barbs
Class limit: 4


Sharks
For students able to swim in four strokes.
Sharks focus on bilateral side breathing and learn flip turns as they practice pushing off the wall in a back streamline and executing sit-down dives. Students continue to progress in butterfly and breaststroke. [Read More]

Teens & Adults, Ages 13 & Older

Adult Beginner Class
For those looking to learn the basics of swimming.
With personalized attention from supportive aquatics instructors, students master a prone, float swim over a short distance in a relaxed state. Students learn return to a standing position unassisted and develop a relaxed back position.

Advanced Adult Class
For those looking to learn the four basic strokes.
Students learn freestyle side breathing, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly stroke with correct breathing patterns. Graduates of this class qualify to participate in independent swimming workouts.
