Courses have concluded for Summer 2018. This page will be updated with Winter 2018 course enrollment dates as it approaches.

Jump-start an aquatics career or just learn a vitally important skill.
Successful completion of training gives applicants 18 and over priority for a lifeguard position at our Aquatics Center.

Pre-requisites for Lifeguard Training:
To sign up, you must be at least 15 years of age, and able to:

  • Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under their armpits.
  • Complete a timed brick dive event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

The course instructor will reach out to all registrants prior to class start to set up a time for the pre-requisite testing.
