Spanning five centuries of art, from the early Renaissance to present day, see just how alluring pastels can be with pieces drawn mostly from the Fine Arts Museums’ holdings in the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts, this Legion of Honor exhibition brings a colorful world up-close to you.
Carol Porter received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. She worked as a research and clinical nutritionist and had teaching and leadership roles at several large university medical centers in this country and abroad. Carol finished her career as the Chair, Nutrition Services and Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Pediatrics, UCSF. Carol has always loved art and when she retired, she entered the docent training program at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. She gives tours of the permanent art collections and special exhibitions at the de Young Museum and the Legion of Honor, supports the development of digital art projects, and leads the community art talks program.
