You also may want these additional materials handy: Jar for water, rags, palette knife (optional).
Week 1: Black and White Still Life Painting
Meet your fellow artists and get familiar with the materials. We’ll start the first demo using a single object and only black and white paint. The focus will be on composing and rendering light and shadow accurately.
Week 2: Full Palette Still Life
Intro to colors and color mixing. This session focuses on how to approach a still life painting with three objects using a full palette.
Week 3: Still Life with Glass/Metal Object
We’ll continue with the full palette; now focusing on including objects with glass or metal texture. You’ll learn what to look for when painting such textures.
Week 4: Personal Still Life Piece
You’ll create a set-up of your choosing and use techniques covered in previous classes to complete your own unique still life painting. Demonstration on how to convey more detail for a greater finish on paintings.
