The Sibley Guide’s David Allen Sibley
Our community partners for this event are the Bay Area Open Space Council, Golden Gate Audubon Society, Oakland Zoo, Presidio Trust, San Francisco Zoo and Wildcare Bay Area.
Birding, as ornithologist David Allen Sibley describes it, is “an interplay of detail and gestalt.” Birders consider his Guide to Birds, which has been flying off the shelves for more than a dozen years, the Bible of bird taxonomy. So his forthcoming Second Edition, with new illustrations and maps, is cause for celebration for the veteran and novice birders among us.
Limited space is available for a guided bird walk with David Allen Sibley. Click here for details.
"Once in a great while, a natural history book changes the way people look at the world. In 1838, John James Audubon’s Birds of America was one. In 1934, Roger Tory Peterson produced Field Guide to the Birds. Now comes The Sibley Guide to Birds."
