Tuv Ha-Aretz

JCCSF is beginning its first season as part of Hazon's national Jewish CSA program, with support from EcoJews of the Bay and Congregation Emanu-El.

Tuv Ha-Aretz: Hazon's Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program enables the Jewish community to support local, sustainable agriculture. It is the first Jewish CSA Project in North America, where individuals pre-purchase a share of a farmer’s produce for an entire season. In addition to guaranteeing the farmer a secure market, it gives members access to local, organic produce at competitive prices, while helping to preserve farmland and build community.

Tuv Ha-Aretz is also a platform for innovative educational and community-building programs that explore the intersection of food and Jewish tradition. Tuv Ha-Aretz provides a tangible encounter with organic and sustainable agriculture issues and serves as a catalyst for engaging and revitalizing the Jewish community.

Click here to sign up. Please download the registration form and mail it in. For all other questions and/or requests for more information, please contact Rabbi Eve Ben-Ora or call 415.292.1251.

A Touch Away

A Touch Away broke television rating records in Israel when it was broadcast in 2007.

Forbidden love blossoms in the Orthodox neighborhood of Bnei Brak, when Zorik, a young, secular Russian immigrant, and his family move in next door to Rochale and her Orthodox family. Rochale is destined for an arranged marriage (shidduch), but she cannot ignore the sparks that fly when Zorik is near. The love that soon buds between the two young neighbors, and the secrets that each family must hide, threaten the families' deeply rooted cultural assumptions and challenge individual family members' beliefs.

Schedule:
Sunday, April 13, 5:30pm - episodes 1 and 2 and guest speaker from the Israeli Consulate
Wednesday, April 30, 7:00pm - episodes 3 and 4
Sunday, May 11, 5:30pm - episodes 5 and 6
Thursday, May 29, 7:00pm - episodes 7 and 8, series actor and guest speaker Henry David
