French for Fun - NEW! Interactive games, songs, books and pictures are a fun way to introduce preschoolers to French. Young children learn new languages effortlessly, and it's a great way to improve their cognitive skills. Winter/Spring registration begins December 2.

Beginning/Intermediate Chess Experience the innovative teaching methods of Academic Chess. Learning this ancient game, participants develop patience, foster critical thinking skills and understand the connection between decisions and consequences. Attendees study the basic principles behind the opening game, middle game tactics and objectives and endgame strategies. The one-hour class is broken into a half-hour of instruction on a two-dimensional demonstration board, followed by a half-hour of supervised play time. Presented in partnership with Academic Chess

Chess Tournament for All Levels Kids put problem-solving skills and mental discipline to the test at the JCCSF's first-ever chess tournament. It's sure to be a morning of strategy, sportsmenship and fun. Participants will be grouped by appropriate skill level. Includes a pizza lunch. Presented in partnership with Academic Chess.
